The programme
Four progressive phases that raise your ceiling, close the gap to threshold, then arrive sharp on race day.
Weeks 1-4
Drive your threshold up from below by building long-range power and pushing it toward your current aerobic ceiling.
Weeks 5-7
A dedicated phase to lift maximal aerobic power, opening a new, wider gap above threshold to chase down.
Weeks 8-11
Return to threshold work and drive it up a second time, pulling it as close as possible to your raised ceiling.
Week 12
Volume drops, intensity stays short and sharp, and activation rides confirm the form built across the eleven weeks before.
Your coach
Your programme is written personally by Jody, who has coached for 12 years and served as Performance Director of the Kuwait National Cycling Team, taking them to the Arab Championships. He coaches Continental professionals chasing the World Tour and is consulted by GCN’s Dr Oliver Bridgewood.
His athletes have won national titles, taken UCI Gran Fondo World Championship medals, and raced at the World and European Championships. But most of the riders he works with are amateurs balancing training with work and family. He has coached riders to win Race Across America and helped hundreds complete gran fondos all over the world.
Whatever your level, if you have a goal and you are willing to work for it, Jody will build the plan. He writes every programme himself and answers your questions in the private rider group all the way to race day.
